Find Your Tribe Through Art!

Find Your Tribe Through Art!
Create & Connect paint project

Nearly four years ago my wife, Jennifer, and I moved from Houston to Dripping Springs. We knew no one. As new empty nesters without kids to connect us to new friends, it was a bit daunting. We leaned on our creative passions and Jennifer started an Art Club in Belterra. Suddenly she met her “tribe” and we began to meet neighbors with a common bond.

Fast forward a couple of years and the Dripping Springs Art League had our initial community meeting to gauge interest for a local art group. Amazingly, we had 55 people respond to social media invites. Some wanted to sharpen their skills, some wanted to learn new media, others wanted to have opportunities to sell their art. But ALL wanted to find their community people with similar interests to share, create, and socialize with in Dripping.

On such a wave of energy, the Art League formed with the 3pronged mission of Art | Community | Connection. We quickly began to schedule workshops, socials, and exhibits followed in 2024 with Clubs and markets.

Today, the DSAL offering continues to grow but our foundation remains Community!

COFFEES, COCKTAILS, and CREATE & CONNECTS Every month we have Member Socials (sometimes 9am coffees, other months 6pm cocktails) along with Create & Connect workshops. All provide an opportunity to meet existing and new members. Everyone can share a bit of their journey and a sampling of their artwork. It’s so invigorating to see connections made and blossom over the years!

Everyone is welcome to join any of our monthly socials at artindripping.com.

CLUB HUB ACTIVITIES

In 2024 we began forming Clubs. Our Clubs are memberdriven gatherings of nearly every art media conceivable. Each club decides on their meeting frequency, time, and place as well as what they want to do. Sometimes they meet for wine, other times to create together, and some take trips to galleries, stores, or workshops. In 2025, we are fortunate to fund these clubs through the generous donations of members and sponsors. These funds provide “starter kits” so people who want to check out oil painting, for instance, don’t have to invest in all the tools but can explore their interest at the Club and decide if they want to delve further. We also fund some of our day trips and workshop teachers so the experience is broad and affordable to everyone.

Learn more or sign up to join any of our upcoming Clubs at artindripping. com/memberclubs/.

VOLUNTEERING The third way to meet your tribe is through volunteering. The DSAL is 100% volunteer driven. We have opportunities from one hour to leadership team roles. Whether you want to help out from your home or amongst the art community, we have opportunities for you.

Our volunteers are the heart of the DSAL. To see so many come together to present receptions, workshops, Clubs, our Art Lounge at Songwriters Festival, and our annual Night to Inspire gala is so heartwarming.

To learn more about opportunities, complete our website form or simply email Jennifer, our Membership Chair, at dsartleague.jennifer@ gmail.com. We’d love to have coffee and find the right fit for you!
