Hill Country Rally for Kids to host concert, cook-off

Hill Country Rally for Kids is hosting its BBQ Cook-Off this weekend, July 25-26. This family-friendly event is open to the public and admission is free. It will be held at Camp Ben McCulloch in Driftwood.

The group’s purpose is to raise awareness and support for children’s charities in the area. Last year, Hill Country Rally for Kids donated over $205,000 to local nonprofits.

The weekend kicks off on Friday night with a free concert featuring Andrew White and Georgia Hudson from 6 to 9 p.m.

Then, on Saturday, guests can come out from noon to 5 p.m. for the BBQ cook-off, which is a IBCA-sanctioned event. BBQ plates will be available for a donation. Winners will be announced on Saturday at 5 p.m.

'We will have a snow cone vendor, and the city of Dripping Springs will have a fire truck from noon until 2 p.m. as long as there are no emergencies,' Ross Van Burkleo, board member, said. 'We will also have radio- controlled offroad race cars for the kids to have fun with.'

There is also a raffle to win a classic Jeep. Learn more at www. hcrally.com/bbq-cookoff.
