In conjunction with Armed Forces Day, the Sarah Pound Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, sponsored a ceremony at Patriots’ Hall honoring Vietnam era veterans and their families. The chapter is a longtime partner of the United States of America Vietnam War 50th Anniversary Commemoration, the Department of Defense’s initiative to recognize veterans for their “call to duty” during the war years of 1955-1975.
Twenty-nine local veterans from the Army, Air Force, Navy, and Marines were presented with personalized certificates and lapel pins recognizing their service and sacrifice to our nation.
“It was an honor to express the long overdue ‘thank you and welcome home’ to these often-forgotten heroes,” said keynote speaker Dr. Mary Jane Hetrick.
