A new project aims to bring generations together through creativity, thanks to a partnership with Ledgestone Senior Living and the Dripping Springs Art League (DSAL). The collaboration kicks off on Monday, June 16 at 10 a.m. with the Kindness Rock Painting Project - a free, familyfriendly event open to kids, teens, parents, and grandparents.
The event is the official preview of Art Across the Ages, an intergenerational art program launching this fall. Starting in September, families are invited to attend monthly Saturday workshops at Ledgestone, where participants ages 5 to 95 will explore a variety of artistic mediums including acrylics, watercolors, and collages. All materials are provided by DSAL, and local artist Linda Moon will guide the experience.
The June 16 event is more than just a sneak peek. It’s also designed to brighten the day of Ledgestone’s residents in memory care. Every hand-painted kindness rock will be used to decorate their upcoming Butterfly Memory Care Garden, a special outdoor space designed to encourage reflection, comfort, and connection.
“We’re honored to open our doors to the community in this way,” said Katy Starr, Community Relations Director at Ledgestone. “Art Across the Ages is just the beginning of a partnership that reflects the heart of Dripping Springs: creative, welcoming, and full of purpose.”
In addition to the family art series, Ledgestone and DSAL are calling on local artists to help transform a quiet green space on campus into a vibrant, resident-focused art garden. Muralists, glass artists, metalworkers, ceramicists, painters, and sculptors were invited to help bring the Butterfly Garden to life.
