DSES teacher receives PEC spotlight award

DSES teacher receives PEC spotlight award
ELENA GONZALES

As Teacher Appreciation Week wrapped up, Pedernales Electric Cooperative announced its Teacher Spotlight Award winners by delivering gift baskets filled with “wish list” items and learning materials to support classroom learning. The program recognizes educators across the coop’s service area for going above and beyond, and for making a difference in their students’ lives.

“One of the neatest things we get to do as a Cooperative is to come together and support our teachers who are helping to improve the future of our communities,” said Kevyn Packer, PEC Community Outreach Specialist. “We couldn’t be more excited to surprise them and show how grateful we are for their hard work and dedication.”

Ten teachers from pre-K through high school were recognized in this round of awards. Each winner received a personalized basket stocked with their favorite treats, school supplies, educational games, and other helpful learning materials they requested.

Dripping Springs Elementary School Principal Kellie Raymond was thrilled to learn one of her teachers, Elena Gonzales, had been named a winner.

“It is truly an honor to see one of our own recognized for the impact she makes each day,” Raymond said. “Ms. Gonzales exemplifies what it means to teach with heart, purpose, and passion. We are incredibly proud and grateful to have such an outstanding educator on our campus!”

Kelsey Valdez, first grade teacher at Rancho Sienna Elementary School thanked PEC for taking the time to recognize her and others.

“I teach because I love to make an impact on the lives of little ones, however, this recognition is appreciated more than you know,” Valdez said.
