‘Wimberley Strong’ concert to remember 2015 flood victims

On May 24, Wimberley will come together for a special memorial concert event to honor the lives lost following the 2015 Memorial Day flood and to recognize the resiliency of its community after widespread devastating damage.

Set against the backdrop of Blue Hole Regional Park, the concert will also celebrate and support area first responders. The event will feature performances by Jesse Stratton and Texas country legend Gary P. Nunn.

“The 2015 flood was a tragic and defining moment for Wimberley, but everyone came together, supported one another, and proved our strength as a community,” said Jim Chiles, Mayor of Wimberley. “This concert is a tribute to those we lost, those who rebuilt, and the first responders who continue to serve our town.”

Doors open at 1 p.m., with Jesse Stratton taking the stage at 2 p.m., followed by Gary P. Nunn. The event will conclude at 6 p.m.

“The resilience of our community will be front and center this weekend,” said Michele Woods, Wimberley’s Tourism Director. “After so much loss, we came back stronger than ever.”
