DSHS students claim runner-up titles in state speech contest

Dripping Springs High School freshman Anvika Jain and sophomore Elijah Slater each captured second-place finishes in their respective grade levels at the Texas Association for Pupil Transportation School Bus Safety Speech Contest.

This year’s contest took place on Monday, April 22 in Waco. The annual TAPT contest provides an opportunity for high school students to prepare and present an original oration to convey the given school bus safety topic for the year. The 2024 topic was “Driving Safely into the Future.”

Jain and Slater both advanced to the state competition after placing first in the Region 13 contest earlier this spring.
