A school-record 18 Dripping Springs High School choir students have qualified for the UIL State Solo and Ensemble Contest.

Each student qualified after earning a superior rating on a Class 1 solo at the regional competition on Saturday, Feb. 26, at McCallum High School in Austin. All 27 participants from DSHS — soloists and two ensembles — received superior ratings.

Students qualifying for the state contest are: Grayson Dunham, Liliana Dyck, Isabel Fernandez, Camila Gutierrez, Sloan Handley, Michelle Hinojosa, Isaiah Hoffman, Aibha Jennings, Jonathan Jensen, Brody Lane, Amelie Lawrence, Daniel McIver, Kate Nolen, Kaylee Ritchey, Portia Schaeffer-Preston, Cole Thomas, Colin Tuohy and Marshall Williams.

The UIL State Solo and Ensemble Contest will be held May 28 and 30 in Austin.
