Pride 2023: a colorful affair

The Pride of Dripping Springs festival came and went this past weekend — but not without a whole lot of fanfare.

The Pride of Dripping Springs festival came and went this past weekend — but not without a whole lot of fanfare.

The annual, citysponsored event took place at Dripping Springs Ranch Park and Event Center on Saturday, June 24. Run by a local community nonprofit, the day-long event allowed Dripping Springs residents of all ages the opportunity to express themselves and their support for the LGBTQ+ community.

The family-friendly part of the festival ran from 1 to 5 p.m. with attractions and activities for both children and adults. These included multiple photo backdrops, a dance floor, live music and drag queens — the perfect scene for those in attendance to eat, drink and play the afternoon away.

Tocal and regional organizations showed out for the event with booths from the Hays-Caldwell Women's Center, the Hays County Tocal Health Department, the Greater Austin YMCA, ACTU Texas, Deep Eddy Vodka and more.

The scene 'After Dark' was even livelier with a drag and burlesque show for those aged 18 and up. This part of the festival — which ran from 7 p.m. to midnight — welcomed the after-dinner crowd to a colorful, light-filled scene.

Pride of Dripping Springs was also recognized this year with a resolution of support from Texas Rep. Erin Zwiener (D-Driftwood).
