September 22

Pioneer Day, Pound Farmstead

The Dr. Joseph Pound Historical Farmstead presents its 28thAnnual Pioneer Day on Saturday September 22, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Pound House Farmstead, 570 Founders Park Road. “Experience early Texas for the entire family.”  The event will have tours of the restored historical farmstead, artisans, live folk music, special displays of antique cars, pioneer games, horse-drawn covered wagon rides, Civil-War re-enactors, and BBQ.  Gate admission will be $7.50, children under 4 are free. Pre-purchase tickets can be obtained for $5 (up until September 20) at thepoundhouse.org.

 

September 17

U.S Constitution “We the People” at Dripping Springs Community Library

The Dripping Springs Community Library (DSCL) will feature special information and book displays that highlight the U.S. Constitution on Monday September 17, to commemorate September 17, 1787, which is the day delegates to the Constitutional Convention met for the last time to sign the document. There will also be a “preamble banner” to which library guests can add their signature. The Dripping Springs chapters of the American Revolution provided posters and help with this celebration. DSCL is located at 501 Sportsplex Drive. 

 

September 22

Brent Thurman Bull Riding

The 20thAnnual Brent Thurman Memorial Bull Riding will take place on Saturday, September 22, at Dripping Springs Ranch Park (DSRP), from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.  Tickets are $20 for adults, $10 for children ages 5 to 12, and children under 5 are free.

(The event will also have a “Cowboy Pre-party & Live Auction,” cash bar & light concessions, with no cover at the door.)  DSRP is located at 1042 Event Center Drive. For more information visit brentthurman.com .

Chamber Lunch

The Dripping Springs Chamber of Commerce will hold its monthly lunch on Thursday September 20, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The luncheon presentation will by by Bonner Carrington, a building and management company of apartment homes. Boo at the Zoo

Boo at the Zoo are fun-filled evening for ghosts and goblins of any age. Come dressed in your Halloween finest (no adult masks, please) and enjoy our Zoo-wide event including the Zoo bedecked in Halloween spookiness, our nocturnal animals, an eerie train ride and unlimited passes through our mansion. Tickets to certain special items within Boo at the Zoo have limited seating. Twilight and Starlight Fundraiser, Pound Farmstead

The Dr. Joseph Pound Historical Farmstead will hold “Twilight and Stars, A Celebration of Dripping Springs,” the evening of Saturday October 6 from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., at the Pound Farmstead, 570 Founders Park Road. Friends Foundation BBQ Fundraiser @ Salt Lick

The Friends Foundation will host their 25th Annual BBQ Fundraiser at The Salt Lick’s Pecan Grove at 18200 RM 1826 in Driftwood, on Thursday, October 11, 2018 from 5 p.m. to 9p.m. Guests will enjoy an evening of live music, Salt Lick BBQ, and more. The Friends of the Dripping Springs Community Library will hold their first Friends Foodie Fundraiser on Friday October 12, from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Wilson AC & Appliance. There will be cooking demonstrations, tastings, author signing, wine and hors d’oeuvres, a silent auction, and “first dibs on a used cookbook sale. Women in Confidence Program: The Dripping Springs Community Library (DSCL) will host a presentation by Wealth Advisor Amy Colton and Attorney at Law Jennifer Cochran-Green entitled “Divorce is scary, but it doesn’t have to be,” from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday October13. The presentation is part of the library’s Fall “Women in Confidence Program,” held every second Saturday of the month during the Fall. DSCL is located at 501 Sportsplex Road. Redbud Artisan Market

Redbud Artisan Market will hold a holiday show on Saturday December 1, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Sunday December 2, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Dripping Springs Ranch Park, 1042 Event Center Drive. The indoor show will feature unique handmade art and craft from over 60 Texas artisans, as well as live music, and food by Space Cowboy Catering, and wine from Austin Custom Winery and Red Road Winery. Open Mike Night at Austin Java

(Every Wednesday)

Austin Java is now hosting an open mic night every Wednesday from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at its Dripping Springs location, 3799 Hwy 290, under its shady canopy. Performers can showcase their musical, comedy, or other artistic talents. For more information call (512) 829-5314

 

Dripping Springs Community Skate Night

Drip Skateboarding and the City of Dripping Springs have collaborated to bring a community skate night to Dripping Springs Ranch Park (DSRP). Skate night is every Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The press release says, “The ground at DSRP is buttery smooth. On push and you will roll forever! Skate nights are for all ages, so bring your kids, moms, dads, and anyone else that wants to come skate with us. We look forward to seeing you there.”

 

Knights of Columbus Coffee

Join fellow Knights for conversation and coffee, every Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at Mazama’s on Mercer Street. All men of the parish are welcome.

 

All Abilities Chair Exercise: Mind, Body, Soul Series

Mondays 9:15 - 10:15 a.m. 

The Dripping Springs Community Library Meeting Room.  All are invited to come play, laugh and sing as we experience the physical, social, emotional, and mental benefits of this Mind, Body, Soul Series.  Your instructor, Carla Daws, has been enthusiastically teaching exercise and yoga for more than 7 years in the Texas Hill Country. The Dripping Springs Lion’s Club invites the public to come to a meeting and learn how they support the Dripping Springs community.  The Lions meet at 6:30 PM in the Special Events room of the Dripping Springs Ranch Park, 1042 Event Center Dr.
